TDF - Tire Derived Fuel

Tire-Derived Fuel (TDF) is a sustainable energy source derived from the shredding of tires into chunks ranging from 3 to 12 inches in length. This recycled material serves as a valuable supplement to traditional combustible resources like coal or wood. Through an extensive test program conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it was determined that the potential emissions from TDF, excluding zinc emissions, are not anticipated to significantly differ from those associated with conventional fossil fuels.

However, it is crucial to emphasize that the effectiveness of this process relies heavily on combustion occurring in a well-designed, well-operated, and well-maintained combustion device. By integrating TDF into energy production, we not only find an eco-friendly solution for recycling used tires but also contribute to a more sustainable and responsible approach to energy generation in various industrial contexts.

Crumb Rubber

Crumb rubber is generated through the reduction of scrap tires into small, uniform granules, with the removal of reinforcing materials like steel and fibers, as well as inert contaminants such as dust, glass, or rock. Typically, the production of crumb rubber involves reducing scrap tires to sizes ranging from 1/4” to 30 mesh particles while eliminating 99.99 percent or more of the steel and fabric. Various manufacturing processes exist for crumb rubber production.

Wet pour, commonly used to create a seamless safety surface, offers versatility beyond safety applications. With a diverse range of available colors and straightforward installation, it can be utilized to form intricate patterns and designs. Our wet pour materials enable the creation of a surface tailored precisely to your design and safety requirements.

Rubber Powder

Derived from the ambient tire recycling process, Rubber Powder marks the concluding phase where crumb rubber undergoes grinding to attain a pristine powder form, meticulously stripped of almost all steel and fiber components. This versatile Rubber Powder finds myriad applications, serving as a valuable resource for the creation of injection-molded products, coatings, roofing materials, and diverse asphalt applications. With its finely processed composition, Rubber Powder stands as a sustainable solution with wide-ranging secondary uses across various industries.

Tire Steel

tire steel

There are approximately 2.5 pounds of steel belt and bead wire in a passenger car tire. This material is made from high carbon steel with a nominal tensile strength of 2,750 MN/m2.

The steel is separated and cleaned to get the highest quality steel with less than 3% rubber contamination.  This falls under Grade 1 Steel. With scrap steel in high demand and easy to recycle, it seems an obvious thing to do, but there are several reasons businesses take a pass on this process—the first and foremost being the widely fluctuating market for steel. Additionally we briquetting or baling the steel wire the way a farmer bales hay produces a denser product that takes up less space to transport.  Contact us for the price per ton for recycled steel.

Recycled Fiber

Nearly 10% of recycled tire is composed of textile fiber that is often called fiber “fluff”. In modern tires, this fiber is mainly composed of Polyester that is used to enhance the tire performance and quality. fiber from recycled tires finds many applications such as construction mixes like concrete and stucco. It is also used as a clean-up material as the fiber is highly absorbent and it is often used in carpets as an underlay. Fiber is also used as a filling for sound dampening, as well as a reinforcing additive for rubber, plastic, and composite materials. Recycled fibers from Florida Tire Recycling Plant are of the highest quality. The company produces a large ton of textile scrap monthly.
